So let's see, this year SOR2 gets a 3DS port, Alex Stone makes a comeback in Project X zone 2, now SOR ost is going to be released on vynil (and remastered by Koshiro no less)!!!!

But yeah, this is pretty cool. There was also those design documents that released not too long ago too for SOR2. Really weird that Sega has been showing some attention to SOR recently. Shocked

Maybe something SOR-related will be at E3 thi-yeah, that's a dream. Razz

Reading through them now, seems that they were thinking of having 6 playables at one point. A 3P option was also on the cards.

Didya know the game is set in Metro City? Razz

Seems quite a few things were left out but included in BK3. All characters were supposed to be able to dash for instance.

It also seems Axel's moves in the beta version were actually intended for the "Black Guy" character.

Oh, and the control system was meant to be completely different to the point of being incredibly complicated.

I bet that sixth character is Shiva. In Bare Knuckle Wikia, Criss (?) said in Trivia that he shares the player palette with the other playable characters in Streets of Rage 2, possibly hinting that he was meant to be playable at one point (also hinted at with his largely complete moveset).

It's out now on the 3DS store. Relay Mode is loads of fun. (Basically, limited to 4 lives, each life is a different character. You can still pick up 1UPs but the life counter maxes out at 4)

This game is pretty sexy on the 3ds, Rage Relay mode is awesome, great way to get to know the characters for beginners.

Just had a bit of an out-there thought:

Stage 6 in SoR2 was supposed to have an army assault halfway through it. Tanks etc.

The character sprites from Bare Knuckle Mobile are SoR2 assets, edited.

Harikari was exclusive to Bare Knuckle Mobile, he fights like Yamato and wears ARMY CAMO gear. He also seems unfinished.

SoR2 reuses Zamza as the Stage 6 boss.

The original Sonic 1 port featured graphics not seen anywhere in the Megadrive ROM, most notably the Marble Zone UFOs.

Some stuff designed for SoR2 was not included due to time constraints, and were used in BK3.

So.....the crazy theorist in me is thinking Harikari just might have been designed back in 1992 before being scrapped and retooled as Yamato in 3. :p That or he's just someone the BKM team made up.

There's also a series of sketches in the SoR2 planning documents depicting a swordmaster enemy. Not drawn in any real detail though. He would have had a special move using his sword.

According to the same documents, there would have been army guys showing up as enemies in Stage 6, but no boss is mentioned.

Yuzo Koshiro tweeted a couple of concepts from the proposed Streets of Rage 4 project of 1999. Featured in these concepts are 4 next generation characters, Burn aka Axel jr, Erie a kunoichi, an unnamed muscular type possibly a wrestler and another unnamed character with a design similar to the Hunter Brothers. The other concept appears to contain combo ideas for the first two characters.

Though I think that's the first time we hear of a next generation fighters for SOR4. The Dreamcast prototype did show Axel, with concept arts IIRC.

I just played Streets of Rage 2 3DS. Controller pretty hard but ok. I felt that I am a bit noob to play because I am suck with bosses like R.Bear :U I played Max for first then I played as Axel for easy way. Hard mode is hard :U
