Karma's music box?

Post  Karma on Thu Oct 03, 2013 3:02 am

I wanted to get some feedback on this idea.  I am not the greatest modder in the world.  In fact, I still haven't finished my first mod, because it takes a lot more time than I had anticipated.  Because of this, I've been feeling as though I'm not really contributing a lot to the community, and then I had an idea.

You see, modding may not be my forte, but what I am good with, what my passion in life is, is music.  With that in mind, I've been considering the idea of creating a download of various tracks for use as resources to our modders.  All of these tracks would be instrumentals, with a wide variety as far as style and flavor goes.  The modders would still need to loop them on their own time, but right now I have a lot of tracks ready to use that have never been used in a mod before, that would be fantastic in my opinion.

Would this be a welcome addition to the resources available for building mods?

Now seriously. I'm not interested in mods, so I'm not the best one for speaking about it, but I think that any help is always welcome and a thread with music would be a great help for modders... and of course, if there is a thread about sprites... why not another one about music?

This is a community, and in the communities people help each other how they want/can, isn't it? Razz

Exactly how much music do you have at current? I'm thinking you're gonna need a LOT of variety for the sake of distribution, since some modders will want heavy metal tunes for their works, while others like pop-rock, or probably classical for quieter scenes (just for a few examples).

Hi, I'm back!! It's been awhile, due to real life nonsense. I'm living in a different part of the country now, new career, bought a house with the wife, getting health issues taken care of, ect. Anyway, I currently have about 700 tracks already converted to OGG format, ready to go. Just one issue: I'm not sure how to go about making a download. Any help?
